Heavenly Presents:Live at the Social Volume 3

It's an inspired pairing. On the third mix compilation in the Heavenly Social series, fabled Primal Scream producer, Two Lone Swordsman and Warp Records veteran Andrew Weatherall is pitted against Death In Vegas' young pretender, Richard Fearless--the man that kicked Britain's dance music scene into shape with the garage-punk squall of The Contino Sessions, and is more often seen rubbing shoulders with Iggy Pop and Primal Scream. Weatherall offers up a set of classy deep house, kicking off with the effortlessly smooth "Woman Cry", a newie from LFO man Mark Bell. Fearless' inspired set trumps it, though; enlisting hyper-cool European electro-terrorists Chicks On Speed for the opening "Eurotrash Girl" and mincing them into Deutschland techno luminary DJ Hell's "Suicide Commando" and a spaced-out mangling of Primal Scream's "Stuka", Fearless gleefully demonstrates impeccable electro-technoid credentials. Big beat, they said. And boy, were they wrong --Louis Pattison
