Read to Write is a collection of reformulated learner writing designed to provide Japanese students with extensive comprehensible input of the type of language that teachers ask them to produce in writing classes. Covering basic topics such as self-introductions, family, and school life, the book trains students to pick up ‘chunks’ of language and spot underlying patterns that they can use to make new sentences about themselves. An English Writing Manual explains in simple language the basics of English writing layout and the mechanics of sentence construction. A Japanese version of the manual is provided as an appendix for lower-level students.
