Money Grabber
★☆☆☆☆
This book is not nearly worth the 1000yen that it asks for and here's why:
It has more than 150 pages but seriously you only get a few words on each page. What's up with all the wasted blank spaces and the space-filling sketches?
It contains information that is random and incoherent. If one is at the beginning stage where he/she cannot distinguish the different ways of saying the word 'I' in Japanese, then there shouldn't be a reason for the person to learn and use seldomly used obscure slang like 'whaaazzzzaap' in Japanese. Moreover, the factual accuracy of some of the translations is questionable at best.
The worst part about this book is that it is yet another one of those phrase books that hardly provides any substantial information regarding when to use these slang and how these slang can be used in various contexts. If you are the desperate gaijin who is interested in just learning a few 'cool' Japanese so to sound hip or try to impress someone whom you wanna pick up, please do yourself a favour and avoid this book. If anything, 'How to Make Out in Japanese' is a much better book as you get the same useless Japanese phrases/expressions, but 3 times the content.
