That was the instant when everything changed.
For the briefest moment, Mackenzie saw Wyatt’s face grow slack as if he was a puppet that had suddenly had its strings cut. In a confusing flash she felt as if she was flying forward and into him, even as her body lay motionless on the bed.
There was a swirling of light and darkness and a blurring of her consciousness. She did not see as much as she felt Wyatt’s presence cross through her own, passing her in its path to her body even as she left it. The spinning and disorientation settled but that did nothing to stop the confusion that still rocked her.
She tried to focus her mind but it was very difficult. For a second she thought she was somehow looking into a mirror but that did not make any sense at all. How was she looking down onto her own face as she lay on the bed?
She looked down further and saw her own body lying under her and realized that something very, very fundamental had changed.
She was not in that body anymore, she was in Wyatt’s. This fact was, of course, unbelievable, but somehow it was true.
She looked into her own visage and saw that Wyatt was now inside her body. There could be no other explanation for the look of confusion on her body’s face. They had somehow swapped bodies and now she was the husband, he was the wife, just as they were starting the act of love.
