1578 Chico Bicalho was born in Rio de Janeiro and studied at an elementary school where the football field had trees throughout, because the school was against cutting them down.Later he moved to Petropolis, RJ, an area surrounded by the South Atlantic tropical rainforest.He believes in having a spiritual life, in freedom, and in peace.He supports the theory that the earth is one living thing and feels that humans should understand nature, live with nature, and be equal to nature.He received a BFA in sculpture from RISD and MFA in photography NYU.Since 1995, he has been working with a group of friends on reforestation projects replanting native South Atlantic tropical rain forest trees.Chico lives in Rio with his wife, a graphic designer / industrial designer called Isabella Torquato.He wants to keep travelling, making art, and planting trees.Katita was named after a female mutt in Rio who had just given birth to a litter of six puppies.She became a national hero in Brazil for having saved the life of a three-year-old boy that was being mauled by two vicious pit bulls.She was very badly hurt after fending off the beasts, but survived.This product is homage to Katita's courage.To wind up Katita, hold it in one hand, keeping the counterweight from spinning, while turning the key with the other hand.Katita works best when all four booties touch the ground approximately 2 3/4'' (7 cm) from each other forming a square (from toe to toe).If the legs become loose, the tabs holding the legs to the body may be pinched with a pair of pliers.When the legs are tight, Katita gets jumpier and even more courageous.Designed by: Chico Bicalho Features: -Silver, copper and brass keys, black and red feet.-Materials: stainless spring, PVC feet.-4 booties touch the ground approximately 2 3/4'' from each other forming a square.-Overall Dimensions: 3'' H x 3'' W x 3'' D.
