Mardi: And a Voyage Thither is the third book published by the American writer Herman Melville. The book was published for the first time in 1849.

This is the first work of fiction of Herman Melville, but like his previous novels its largely autobiographical, even if he uses fictional characters. The book - which recalls in this context its previous works Typee and Omoo - describes the wanderings of a sailor, who, after leaving his whaler goes traveling the South Pacific. Unlike her first two novels, the highly philosophical Mardi has led some to say that it was the first work of Herman Melville to show the true potential of the author.
