Children learn the benefits of cooperation in this innovative game from Family Pastimes.Each player tends a small garden composed of four different types of vegetables.The object is for all players to harvest all the vegetables before winter arrives.If one of the four colours comes up when the colour-coded die is thrown, then each player may harvest one vegetable of that colour from his or her own garden or from any of the other gardens.If the die comes up black, each player may choose which colour vegetable to pick.If the die shows a white dot, then a Winter piece must be placed on the board.The game ends when all players harvest all vegetables, or when all six Winter pieces are filled in.Cooperation is encouraged with a few special rules: if a player's garden has been completely harvested and he or she rolls the white dot, then a winter piece is removed.Players are thus subtly encouraged to concentrate on one garden at a time, instead of each tending only to their own gardens.--Michael Fehlauer
