Many of these drawings, which were kept in the Academy Museum for centuries, were given to other museums and libraries after the 1917 Revolution and thus were lost for the Academy forever. Mogilevtsev who within two years was searching for and selecting works from museums and archives of the Academy of Arts, the Russian State Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery.
