Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) was Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox's debut offering as the Eurythmics, following their departure from The Tourists. The partnership went on to be one of the most successful UK songwriting collaborations of the 80s, going on to win 1998's special Brit Award for lifetime achievement as well as being involved in numerous acclaimed solo projects. While Sweet Dreams is not the duo's finest hour, it certainly sets the premise for what was to come from this long and enduring partnership--Lennox with her hypnotic vocals and deliberately androgynous style and Stewart's experimental and yet essentially mature pop melodies. --Ronita Dutta
