If you never read the rest in this book of short stories by Shirley Jackson, you MUST read the Lottery. Unsettling and frightening, the darker side of human nature/relations, is set out in this seemingly simple story. However, once you read the Lottery, you will be hooked and will not want to miss any of the other fascinating stories.
Do not forget her novels, too; like WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE and the well-known THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE.
