「魔道士の掟」から始まったリチャードとカーランの長い戦いに、この巻でようやく一つのピリオドが打たれる。
記憶を奪われ、敵に捕らわれたカーランを、魔法を失ったリチャードが奪還を図る。
個人的には中盤から搭乗した闇のシスター、ニッキから目が離せない。
常に迷いのないリチャードと違って、心の強さと弱さが微妙に混ざりあった彼女の存在が、物語に陰影を深めている。

本国では新シリーズも開幕しているようだが、邦訳がとまってしまったのが残念。

Couldn't put it down and Goodkind finished with an expected outcome, though with a little twist. I felt it could have been longer and that it should have tied in more of the many elements of the series from start to finish, but that may be wishful thinking. Not the best of the series, but a strong contender nonetheless. I found the book a little heavy-handed at the end when it came to atheism, but that's not different from any of the other novels since the Order was introduced. Besides which, Goodkind makes some valid points about beliefs in general. I hope to hear more from this author in the future, but I guess he can have a break for now! Also, if you missed reading TINO GEORGIOU'S masterpiece--THE FATES, go and read it.
