The “Funny English” series includes approximately 300 funny mistakes that Japanese make when speaking English. Each book in this series contains 10-30 or more funny mistakes that Japanese commonly make, as well as corrections and explanations of the mistake. “Funny English” will improve your English by helping you eliminate all the most common mistakes that Japanese make when speaking English.

What kind of mistakes are in the “Funny English” books? There are mistakes of every level and type in “Funny English.” There are grammar mistakes, vocabulary mistakes, tone (level of politeness and formality) mistakes, and pronunciation mistakes. The mistakes in “Funny English” also come from every level of English learner from beginner to advanced. Actually, many of these mistakes are still being taught to schoolchildren and secondary students in Japan. In addition, Japanese-English dictionaries also include a lot of unusual, outdated vocabulary as well as an occasional grammar mistake. (My guess is that 5%-10% of Japanese words are translated poorly by Japanese-English dictionaries.) Many Japanese learners also make mistakes when they try to directly translate Japanese to English. Some of the mistakes in this series come from trying to use borrowed words (katakana words) in real English.
