It's not every day that Simon Kennedy wakes up next to a bomb with just moments left before it is due to detonate. Beside the bomb, and next to him on the floor, is a dead body with a caved in face. The shocking reality is that the body is wearing his clothes and even his name badge. Not having a great deal of time to think, he uses those precious moments to escape from the laboratory in which he has been working by smashing a window and jumping into the canal that is just outside the building.
It is only after the explosion that destroys his life's work and as he clambers out of the canal that he becomes aware that he is no longer in his own body. He is in the female body of his co-worker and erstwhile lover- Susan Willow.
Fate has played a cruel trick on our victim, but not long after the disaster, Anna Drummond-Ross, as a director of the company that owns the now destroyed building, steps in and with the help of Maxine Smith of the Department of Special Operations, they begin to piece together what happened and why.
Is Susan Willow now in Simon'sold body, or was that his body on the floor?
Who was responsible?
What was the project and why was it important enough to kill everyone involved?
For Simon, the possibility of getting his old body back becomes a priority, but will this priority be realised?

This story is seen from two separate perspectives - Simon's and Anna's, as the old team swings into action to answer all the questions and to try to get the project back on track.
