Rich in characters and an amazing plot, The God of Small Things takes you into the fascinating setting of India , its politics, rich culture , unique social and caste system, numerous taboos, and its turbulent rich which all have an influence on the characters of the story. 特筆すべきは、自然の描写と散文の美しさだろう。椰子の木と運河の織り成すバックウォーターの風景が目に浮かぶような(行った事があるからかもしれないが)自然の描き方は秀逸。ややアイロニカルで、ウィットに富んだ文章は斬新で物語の哀切さをよく引き立たせている。
文句なしの傑作。次作が読みたいです。
