プライドと偏見はモームがイギリス十大文学の中に入れている小説だし、タイムの世界の名作のリストの中に入った小説だ。
1850年頃に書かれた小説で、イギリスらしい、身の周りの出来事を、オースティンらしいウィットを効かせた書き方を
している小説で読んでいて少しも飽きがこない。

このpenguin classics deluxe editionはデラックスだがペーパーバックだ。だが、表紙のデザインがしゃれていたり、
表と裏の表紙をあけると裏側が真っ赤だったり、活字もかわいい活字だったり、ちょっとだけ楽しい気持ちになれる
ペーパーバックだった。同じシリーズには、sense and sensibilityやDickensのoliver tuistなどが入っている。

以前間違って和書の方にレビューました。それでまたレビューしなおしです：

Pride and Prejudice"の英語版はどの出版社から出されたものでも同じだと思いますが，私が購入した本は19世紀英語で現代英語にはない言葉が下に注釈として書き出されていたのでとても助かりました．

日本の作家では夏目漱石のファンでした．その夏目漱石が絶賛したPride and Prejudiceです．読みながらオーステェンの英語の絶妙さと魅力にぐいぐい引き込まれて行きます．

弁護士から結婚を申し込まれたオーステェンは一度受け入れ，次の日には解消しています．それ以来死ぬまで独身で通した彼女はきっと後悔したのでは？　

高貴なイギリス貴族への憧れをも取り入れながら，しかし，階級の違いや美醜で人間の価値を決めるその頃の高慢と偏見を，オーステェン持ち前の鋭い観察と洞察力で描いてゆきます．

ミスター・ダーシーの心の葛藤や男性同士の会話がないのは，オーステェン自身が異性の会話を知らなかったからだ，と言われています．とは言っても，ダーシーのcountenancesやエリザベスとの会話から，彼女が私たちをイマジネーションの奥深くへと導いてくれるのは確かです．ＢＢＣドラマ“高慢と偏見”の主人公，エリザベス（ジャネファー）とダーシー（コリン・ファース）は原作のイメージにピッタリはまっていました．　

“Pride and Prejudice"は，オーステェンの絶妙かつ美しい英語／言葉で（巧みなジョークも含めて）あなたを19世紀のイギリスの世界，ナザフィールドの舞踏会，ロングボーンののどかな田舎に住む快活で美しいエリザベスとその家族，ダーシーが住むペンバリーのお城へと招待しててくれるだけでなく，私たちの願望を満足させてくれること間違いなしです．何度読んでもあきない小説のひとつ．

ペーバーバックの良いところは，没頭すると本を丸めてみたり，折り曲げて読みやすいようにしたり，しまいにコーヒーをこぼしたり，，，自由がきくことかしら!?

OMG..I never know Jane Austen until I knew stephenie meyer's twilight and relating her book to this..I'm just so thrilled..I can't stop smiling while reading this book..It was funny,romantic and very spontaneous..you really have to read it fast to know what comes next..I love Elizabeth and Darcy...these two characters were just like bella and edward on their own way..the love story was written so well..you really feel the characters and it makes you want more..I was really not bored reading and made me decide to reread it soon..Wort buying and worth some 5 stars!!!!!

Elizabeth is honest and liberal, which affects those surrounding her in both good and bad senses; she oftener hurts people than she pleases them. Darcy, who in the course of this tale plays an integral part in altering Elizabeth, is more than influenced by her, comes to be unable to bear her existence, and eventually makes explicit what he thinks about her in her presence.
Austen distinguishes pride from vanity in this writing; that is deemed the better by her. Though, even the pride is accused as double-edged.
This is an excellent love story, as is obvious from the title “Pride and Prejudice”, which is suggestive of “Romeo and Juliet". I heard Darcy in this story is the model for a Darcy in “Bridget Jones’ Diary”.
A factor which begets a terrific quality of this tale is the viability of juxtaposition between Elizabeth and Darcy. These two characteristics, when intermingled, constitute an organic whole in this story.
Some might say this writing is a mere Bildungsroman, which is, a story in which the protagonist in a story, going through many an adversity, grows mentally mature, but I truely think this is an excellent love story I hope will deserve your praise.

このAUDIO BOOK はとてもSIMPLEです。ケ−スの中に１０枚のCDが特に保護もされずに、重ねて入っています。本や説明書なども、一切ありません。ナレ−タ−の英語はとても聞きやすいですが、イギリス英語というよりも、アメリカ英語の発音です。　作者はイギリス人で、質の良いイギリス英語を学べます。最近は、スラングばかり学ぶ傾向が強いですが、やはりこういうしっかりとした英語を、学びたいものですね。同じ作者の、エマという作品も、もおすすめです。ただ、AUDIO BOOK はありません。
